Tracks & Traces - 8´15", Sound, Colour, Norway 2016

The film was made during a train ride through a tunnel in Norway. The video approaches the phenomenon of time on three levels.

In the persistent clatter of wheels on rails, time presses forward toward a goal expected, but not yet attained.

Time turns a backward glance through Gustav Mahler’s dark, brooding music into a past we hold onto in memory. But the film track itself, frozen by extreme slow motion into isolated visual fragments, is the realization of the present, that junction where past and future meet.

The video also suggests metaphorically, that time itself can be experienced only as a succession of fragmentary moments.
