Upstream II - 8’05, colour, sound, Canada, 2008

Journey on the St. Lawrence River from Québec City to Montreal.
The camera is mounted on the planks of a freighter and sways with the rolling of the ship.
Grey skies, grey water.  Trees and bushes on the passing countryside are dark, without foliage.  Remnants of snow.
Now and again, signs of civilization, small dwellings.
The picture rises and sinks, taking up the ship's gentle swaying.
 
In spite of the ship's progression, time seems to stand still.
