Detail of the wall of water at Ground Zero in NYC: Reflections of sunlight in endless variations dot the water’s edge on the screen’s upper corner. The wind churns white foam against the black wall; cascading water is driven upwards again. The Funeral Cadence of drum roll and bagpipes from a NYC fire department parade, recorded in 2018, underlies the film. Two tragedies, separate in time, place and purpose, fuse into one image of death, remembrance and life, an American Memorial.
