Arsenale, Architecture Biennale 2021, entrance area. The thick ropes of a “curtain” sway gently in the wind. Their shadows cast oblique contours on the smooth floor. The reflections are only noticeable at second glance. People pass by in both directions, in and out, creating complex choreographies with the ropes, shadows, and reflections. Stomping rhythms can be heard, like the footsteps of visitors, overlaid with recurring monotonous, overlapping sounds like distant ships—a reminder of Venetian shipbuilding in these very halls.
